Dr Funlola Harold-Sodipo

Dr Harold-Sodipo graduated from the premier University of Ibadan Medical School in 1978. During her internship with the Lagos State Health Management board she developed an early interest in Paediatrics and proceeded to serving the nation during her National Youth Service year by working in the department of Paediatrics of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

She returned to the Paediatric department of LUTH to join the residency training program to commence her formal training in paediatrics.  During these years, she worked in various sub-specialities but with special interest in paediatric respiratory diseases, notably, asthma in childhood and tuberculosis infections in children.

She left LUTH in 1989 to work as a paediatrician in the private sector before collaborating with her three colleagues in 1994 to set up the first privately owned solely children’s hospital, Lifeline Children’s Hospital.

Dr Harold-Sodipo moved to the UK in 1998 and is currently working as a paediatrician with the West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, working across three hospital sites. She has gained invaluable experience in the management of children in the different subspecialties.

Over the last 10 years, she has been one of two paediatricians looking after over 180 children and young people with diabetes, as part of a multidisciplinary team in the Trust. She has attended several courses and conferences on diabetes in children and has acquired invaluable clinical skills in the acute management of such children as well as in the long term management of the condition including use of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion

Dr Harold-Sodipo has also developed a special interest in childhood allergies especially food allergies and eczema. She has attended various courses on the investigation and management of food allergies in children and is also now working towards a postgraduate diploma in Paediatric Allergy.

Dr Harold-Sodipo also has experience in the business sector and has in the past served as Vice-chairman of Agbara Estates Ltd.
